Theydon Bois Christmas Market 2022
This years Christmas Market took place on Friday 25th November 2022 at the earlier time of 5:30pm. It was a festive event with mulled wine, mince pies, Christmas lights and lots of fun for everyone. The crowds arrived in the Village Hall just before 5pm where Rev John Fry gave a speech and the joint award of ‘Villager of the Year’ Brian Revell, Fiona Bradley, Ivan Pollock and Phil Simmance switched on the Christmas tree. Theydon Bois Primary school sang some carols and then the crowds made their way down to the start of the market in Forest Drive. The market was a great success and despite the England vs USA World Cup game their was still lots of buzz. We are pleased to say that raised £1200 for our charity of the year St Clare Hospice. Thank you to everyone that took part in making the event a success and to those who contributed to the charity. Merry Christmas!
Theydon Bois Christmas Market took place on Friday 26th November 2021
On the evening of 26th November we were lucky enough to see the return of the Theydon Bois Christmas Market. This annual event always takes place in Forest Drive on the last Friday in November. The event started off at 6pm in the Village Hall car park, this year we were honoured to have a pupil from Theydon Bois Primary School switch on the lights of the magnificent 27ft Christmas tree. The crowds then made their way to the market to enjoy the evening ahead. The event had lots for all to enjoy, including music from DJ Tony Poole, Fairlop Brass Band and the school choir. Entertainment continued with Father Christmas, donkeys, snow globe ride, tea cups ride, bubbles and plenty of stalls perfect for buying Christmas gifts. We would like to thank our local businesses for their efforts which made the event special Theydon Bois Bakery donated 400 fresh and delicious mince pies, Butler and Stag provided complimentary prosecco, the Queen Victoria Pub had a beer stall, the Bar People and Esquirers served alcoholic drinks, Quality and Excellence butchers ran the BBQ, Theydon Bois Parish Council served mulled wine and all of the shops were open for extended hours. The atmosphere was buzzing, there was a strong sense of community in the street and many of the shops had decorated their shops and windows, welcoming customers for drinks and nibbles during the evening. We raised a record breaking £1349.03 on the night for Alzheimer’s Research UK and two further donations totally £125 were received after the event, taking the grand total to £1474.03.

Our Christmas Market in 2019 was a great success and we raised over £1000 for our Chairman’s Chosen Charity, Voluntary Action Epping Forest.
The Theydon Bois Christmas Evening Street Market is a fabulous way to make you feel festive and ready to kick off with some seasonal spirit.
Now in its 9th year, it has become quite a tradition in Theydon Bois, with many residents and visitors looking forward to this annual event. It usually takes place on the last Friday in November. The shopping area at the start of Forest Drive gets closed to traffic and this is where the market really comes to life.
This is one night of the year when the road is lit up! The market will be buzzing with families, enjoying the evening and listening to the school choir and we generally have a band of musicians too. This event marks the turning on of the lights on our huge 27 feet high Christmas tree located outside the Village Hall. We pride ourselves in hosting such a happy, cheery event.
We have many high-quality shops and stalls selling beautiful items, which are perfect for Christmas gifts. We also have plenty of delicious food and drink available to buy along with mulled wine and mince pies supplied by the Parish Council and local bakery – so you won’t go hungry or thirsty! The Santa’s Grotto, Snow Globe and rides are always popular ventures for the children. This is a great community event, with a really jolly atmosphere.
Get in Touch. Get Involved.
Would you like the opportunity to make a difference? If so, we openly encourage residents to attend meetings to engage with the Parish Council and see how you can be part of community projects and initiatives.
